Internships shouldn’t be about cheap labor. They should be about learning from experienced pros, not doing work those pros would rather not do. They should be about increasing your depth of experience, widening your knowledge base, and learning what happens in the real world.
But that doesn’t seem to be what it means to be an intern. So we don’t want an intern. No, we’d rather have something more like an apprentice. Or a mentee. Call it what you will, but we have an opening of sorts. Here’s what we think it will look like:
Note: we can deal with a school if you need credit. That’s not a requirement, though.
Or, things you'll know by the time we’re done with you
In order of importance
We build software for other people and for ourselves. As time goes on, we'd like to do more of the latter and less of the former. We usually work in the Ruby stack, usually with Rails. We're as focused on UI and UX as we are on architecture and scalability. We work with founders, startups, small companies, agencies, and other small shops like us.
Send an email to intern@supermatter.com. Tell us why we should hire you. Include whatever you think necessary: portfolio, project, resume, cover letter, etc.
